Azure AD Connect family version 1.x deprecation On 31 August 2022.

Hi all,

I just blogged about differences between AAD Connect and Cloud Sync Provisioning Agent.

And today noticed on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/hybrid/reference-connect-version-history that Microsoft will be deprecating the first family versions of Azure AD Connect On 31 August 2022

“You need to make sure you are running a recent version of Azure AD Connect to receive an optimal support experience.

If you run a retired version of Azure AD Connect it may unexpectedly stop working and you may not have the latest security fixes, performance improvements, troubleshooting and diagnostic tools and service enhancements. Moreover, if you require support we may not be able to provide you with the level of service your organization needs.”

Download V.2.0 from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=47594

You can just upgrade it, but it you want to move the engine to a different server, let’s say you have Server 2012 or r2 currently hosting the syncing tools and you want to install newer server to do the job.

And here’s an excellent and detailed article from Sander Berkouwer / Dirteam for the job https://dirteam.com/sander/2020/07/17/howto-perform-an-azure-ad-connect-swing-migration/

No need to write any detailed instructions of this after article.

Stay safe and upgraded,
